As you can easily see from HomeLand Arts gallery you'll find three pictures of Howth. Two of the pictures illustrate the harbor and the next painting is of the Bailey Lighthouse, overlooking Dublin Bay. Howth is an excellent place to visit and can be a nice little escape for anyone spending some time in Dublin City. Based only 9 miles from the town center, it takes about 25 minutes to make the journey to by Dart (Dublins electric rail system). You can also get yourself a coach to Howth Summit where the views across Dublin bay are exceptional. On the clear day you can see as far south as Wexford and seeking east you can make out the hills of Wales. From here you can observe its watch and the Bailey Lighthouse across Dublin Bay towards the Dublin and Wicklow Mountains. I would highly recommend, for anyone visiting Howth for the first-time, to make their way to the peak on the 31C bus. From Howth Summit you are able to just take the cliff walk and make your way right down to Howth Harbour. The last time I took this route it took me around 45mins to one hour. Their an excellent method to lead up to lunch-time because from the time you get down to the villiage you will have built up an intense hunger a hearty appetite and probably! You will find no shortage of restaurants and bars. Listed here are my favourites, having a quick description The Bloody Flow. Found only beneath Howth Dart Stop. My favorite time to visit here is a sunday afternoon when they normally have a roaring fire (in the winter-time usually!). My favorite is the chowder. Findlaters. A great position during the night. The bar at the top floor has a nice deck with views over Howth Harbour and beyond for the Island of Irelands Eye. The Water-side Club. A good pint of Guinness and very nice bar food. If you like to eat some thing larger the Wheelhouse restaurant upstairs is a great choice. Abbey Pub. This is a favourite for a large amount of visitors passing through. The Cock Tavern. An actual local and a favourite for the fishermen off the boats. The craic and the Guinness is excellent. For everyone looking for non-pub related activities there's plenty to do in Howth. Deerpark Hotel has 2 18-hole public golf courses on its grounds, in addition to a par 3 course, If you like golf. So far as public golf courses go, you cant progress than this on a great morning. The views are incredible. On-the entrance around the golf courses, you can visit the Transport Museum and stop off at the old castle. Their small but very interesting. A popular for-a large amount of people o-n a warm day is to take one hour or two, obtain a 99 (ice cream) just wander across the harbour. There is lots of exercise to observe and the seals typically make an appearance. There are plenty of ships to respect.
